Quick Recap: Jesse Little and his JJL Motorsports team eighth race of the year at Texas Motor Speedway in the JAG Metals 350 produced the organization’s fifth top-10 of the 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.
With support from new partner Skuttle Tight and the continuing support of Grindstaff Rub Co., Little produced his fourth top-10 qualifying effort of the year which allowed the Sherrills Ford, N.C.-team to maintain the crucial track position that Texas Motor Speedway requires since undergoing a repavement in 2017.
Working his way to fifth during Stage 1, Little and his team led by crew chief Matt Noyce elected to make an early pit stop which allowed them to stay out for the start of Stage 2, restarting second.
Maintaining his presence at the front, a Lap 50 restart, however, sent Little plummeting through the field as he found himself trapped on the treacherous outside lane.
Still, a resilient Little was able to maneuver his way out of the chaos and despite a late-race pit stop in Stage 2, Little once again found himself back inside the top-10 for the start of Stage 3.
Throughout the final laps of the event, Little never fell outside the top-10 and even through a late green flag pit stop where he took tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment, the NASCAR Next alumnus was able to climb back through the field and rise from ninth to seventh in the closing laps to earn his first top-10 finish since finishing seventh at Gateway (Ill.) Motorsports Park in June.
Jesse Little Quote: “Part of me loves being disappointed by a seventh-place finish, other part wishes we did things a little different. We had a great No. 97 Skuttle Tight | Grindstaff Rub Co. Ford F-150.
We will get better and go try one more time to get JJL Motorsports and myself a trophy. I really appreciate the support of everyone and can’t thank my guys enough for their hard work.”
